Overview

This 6 Days Uganda safari will take you places like Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to over 400 mountain gorillas for gorilla tracking, Queen Elizabeth National park ,named after the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1954. The park is well known for its diverse nature, it harbors mammals species, primates, reptiles and 612 bird species include; the martial eagle, black-rumped button quail, African skimmer, Chapin’s flycatcher, pink backed pelicans, white-winged warbler, papyrus canary, papyrus gonolek among others . Queen Elizabeth National park is also famous for the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. Visit Lake Mburo National park where you will be able to enjoy a game drive and a boat cruise on the beautiful lake. This national park is among the smallest parks in Uganda and it has got a big population of zebras, impalas, giraffes, kobs, antelopes, birds etc.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

Rise up to an early morning breakfast and your safari guide will pick you up to start your safari to Lake Mburo national park western part of Uganda. Along the way, there are stopovers at the equator monument for photography and experimentation not forgetting buying your yourself souvenirs. You will arrive at the park early afternoon and have lunch at the lodge. After lunch, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo which will reward you with game as crocodiles, hippos, lots of bird species. Later, you will have game drive to see different wildlife species such as kobs, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, water hogs and impalas among others. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight.

Day 2. Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After your early morning breakfast, you will go for guided nature walk in the park where you will have chance to see animals gather to lick the salt among others. You will then have game drive as you exit the park to depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will enjoy the great volcanic landscape of Kigezi rolling hills covered with vegetation en route to Bwindi. You will have lunch en-route as you travel and later approach the park which harbors over 400 individuals of mountain gorillas. The park has four main sectors where to track the mountain gorillas. You will arrive at the park early in the evening and if time allows, you might opt for a cultural walk or relax at your lodge to prepare for the tracking of gorillas the next day. Diner and overnight.

Day 3. Gorilla tracking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Wake up early morning at 6am for your breakfast and then check in at the park headquarters by 7:30 am for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas, where you will also be assigned the gorilla tracking family. At 8:30am, equipped with your parked lunch, drinking water, you will set off to the forest to start the gorilla trekking adventure. Trekkers are always advised to carry enough water, snacks, boots and raincoats since the weather is unpredictable in most cases. It is also recommended to hire a porter who will help you carry the backpack and also assist you in case the terrain challenges you. It may take 1-6 hours before reaching the gorillas depending on the movement of these gentle giants in their natural environment. After the trek, head back to your lodge for refreshment and in the evening, you could choose to unwind at the lodge or visit the Batwa community and have a great time watching them dance and sing through cultural performances. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4. Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Have an early breakfast and thereafter start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National park passing through Ishasha sector where you will have game drive in search of tree climbing lions up on the fig tree relaxing and many other animal species duikers, elephants, bush bucks as you approach Queen Elizabeth National Park. On your arrival at the park, you will have lunch and later go for an evening game drive were you will be able to view many animals including the elephants, kobs, antelopes, warthogs, water bucks, etc. Continue to the northern part of the park reaching in the evening. Time allowing, you may have game drive in Kasenyi sector. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 5. Chimpanzee tracking and boat cruise Queen Elizabeth national park

Early morning after breakfast, you will drive to Karinju forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure. Enjoy these closest human cousins play in the forest in search of food. After one hour stay with the chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for your lunch. After your lunch, you will go for an afternoon boat cruise. You will have a great time cruising along the Kazinga channel where lakes Edward and George meet which will reward you with a great view of water birds such as the saddle billed stork, pink backed pelicans, the malachite kingfishers and animals such as crocodiles, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, feeding along the channel. Later in the evening, head back to the Lodge, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 6: Game drive and transfer back to Kampala

After an early cup of coffee, you will go for game drive at 6:00am to catch up with early risers. You will be able to see very many animals along the Kasenyi track such as elephants, antelopes, water bucks, buffaloes, lions, leopard, kobs among others. On return, you will set off back to Kampala reching in the evening and proceed to Entebbe airport to check in for your departure flight if scheduled in the evening.
