5 Days Uganda Primate Tour

Overview

This 5 Days Uganda primates safari will cover Bwindi forest national park and Kibale forest national park. Bwindi is home to over 15 habituated gorilla families where as Kibale protects 13 primate species This tour shall start and end from Entebbe or end in Kigali.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe – Fort Portal / Kibale

You will be picked by your guide from the hotel in Entebbe in the morning at 7.30am and set off to Kibale forest national reaching the park in the afternoon. After lunch, you will have time to visit the crater lakes, spend the evening viewing these natural wonders and later proceed to your accommodation for overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale forest

After morning breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the chimpanzees. You will then enter the forest at 8:30am to track the chimpanzees, an experience that may take 1-3 hours before meeting the chimpanzees. You will stay with the chimpanzees for one hour once you meet them. You may encounter other primates during tracking such as L’Hoest monkey, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, red colobus, and pottos. You will embark to the lodge for lunch and later take a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders. The Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek can easily be marked among the other 137bird species. There is also an array of butterfly species.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Wake up to your morning breakfast and thereafter set off to Bwindi forest national park, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. You will pass through Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth national park, famous for tree climbing lions which are often found relaxing up in the fig tree. You may get that luck of spotting them as well as other animals that may be near the road such as buffalos, bushbucks, waterbucks, elephants among other. Continue to Bwindi with lunch en-route arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4. Gorilla tracking in Bwindi forest

Have early morning breakfast and your guide will drive you to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for briefing prior to trekking the mountain gorillas in the thick impenetrable forests. You get to spend an hour with the gorillas when you finally meet them; however the time to trek varies depending on where the family to trek will be allocated.After trekking you choose to rest or have a village walk, to see traditional lifestyle of the locals, from brewing of the local beer to medicines made from this very forest. Performances of traditional dances plus other entertainment will be offered by the very sociable local people and all this is worth experiencing. Dinner and overnight stay or transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 5.Transfer to Entebbe

After breakfast, check-out and head back Entebbe with stops in Mbarara for a delicious lunch and at the equator monument in kayabwe to take pictures. You will reach Entebbe early in the evening and transfer to the airport to check in for your departure flight if on schedule
